Dr Lerong Lu is a legal scholar and writer, serving as an Associate Professor of Law at the King’s College London. He is the author of three books: Private Lending in China (Routledge, 2019), Global FinTech Revolution (Oxford University Press, 2024), and Towards Financial Superpower (Oxford University Press, 2025), and has published over 50 research papers.
Dr Lu is a recognised public voice on global financial regulation and FinTech policy. His expert commentary has featured in major international media outlets, including the BBC, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, and The Straits Times.
On 10 April 2024, Dr Lerong Lu appeared on BBC One to discuss the legal implications of deepfake technology. He examined how deepfakes shape public perceptions of politicians and celebrities, offering viewers advice on identifying deepfake scams. The interview was broadcast nationwide across the UK.
